Ode to Shaper Sebastian Schmid

Ode to Shaper Sebastian Schmid
This is a 5’4” x 21 1/2” x 2 5/8” that Sebastian made after reading Keel Nation.
Sebastian made it out of a slab of 6” foam that he found thrown out in a skip bin (right on).
He borrowed a friends homemade wire cutter to get the rocker close to where he wanted it, then hand shaped the rest, glassed it then zebra’ed it up—looks so sick.
Also put in an extra plug for the fins so he could move them a little—great idea.
He says about the board, “Awesome board that’s ridiculously fast & fun at my local Maroubra (Australia) beach break and handles surprisingly well to head height.”

5’2” Mini Simmons Bamboo laminate Epoxy quad future fins

5’2” Mini Simmons Bamboo laminate Epoxy quad future fins – $399 (Carlsbad). Gorgeous mint condition new mini simmons board that’s 5’2” with quad future fins and shaped from a very talented home shaper from FL.

Don’t feel like riding a long board on the small days, this bad boy will get into anything and turns like a dream with the huge flat tail and quad setup.

Get more waves and have more fun than pretty much anyone in the lineup on this rig.

Between the thick rails and epoxy build it will not only last forever but it will float and paddle great.

Ryan 843-568-40five7, thanks.

Ah, yes . . . returning to to the simplicity of riding waves on great and unique surfcraft.

Migration . . .

They write on their site:

“Migration Surfboards are built on the concept of returning your surfing experience to the moment you were hooked on riding waves and experiencing something new in the process.”

This Mini is a migration in itself:

  • quad
  • rolled belly
  • subtle v though tail

Dimensions: 5’5″ x 19 1/2″ x 22 1/2″ x 19 1/2″ x 2 3/4″  (me like)

Mini Progresive

Mini Progresive

This one is interesting, the nose doesn’t quite fit the traditional mini approach but I like the result. 5’6 x 20″

I like the tail and nose, interesting combination of function and performance.

Seems to be a ‘fashion’ these days, mini quads.

Mitsven Mini Simmons Quad

Mitsven Mini Simmons Quad

I was at Hansens in Encinitas, California this week and I came across several shapes from Mitsven in San Diego. His website doesn’t do justice to the beauty of his boards.

The boards I saw were mainly retro fish style and one mini simmons quad that made my mouth water—really one of the most beautiful boards I have seen.

This one was $750 and worth every cent—go grab it at Hansen Surfshop—hurry before I get there first!
